This program is 170 hours in length. Students must be certified equivalent to an ISO/WRSTC Rescue Diver or higher, or have completed the Rescue Program. The Divemaster program brings the student to the Divemaster level. In addition to the Divemaster Course, it includes 9 specialty courses (e.g. Night Diving, Deep Diving, Science of Diving, etc.) to improve the student’s knowledge and expand diving skills. Divemaster is the first professional level, and upon completion of the program, students will be qualified (in addition to vocations able to be obtained with completion of the Rescue Diver Program) to lead certified divers, act as a certified assistant in SCUBA courses, and qualify as a training specialist for ecology programs.

Altitude

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 8.

Course Description: The Altitude course teaches students how to adjust for No-Decompression Limit changes due to diving at altitude. This will allow students to calculate all applicable adjustments for diving at altitude so that they will be able to dive safely and independently of a professional.

Deep

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 14.

Course Description: The Deep course teaches students how to safely dive and plan dives to depths between 60fsw/18msw and 130fsw/40msw. The course also goes in-depth into the effects and procedures for dealing with gas narcosis.

Dry Suit

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 8.

Course Description: The Dry suit course teaches students how to dive in a dry suit. Different buoyancy control techniques, care/maintenance, new hazards, and emergency procedures are covered in this course.

Enriched Air Nitrox

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 4.

Course Description: The Enriched Air Nitrox course teaches students the procedures to breathe Oxygen-enriched gas mixtures while diving using blends up to 40% Oxygen. The course covers additional information on Oxygen Toxicity, partial pressures, Maximum Operating Depths, how to analyze gas mixtures, filing procedures, and all the applicable calculations.

Equipment Specialist

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 8.

Course Description: The Equipment Specialist course goes in-depth into different types of equipment and basic repairs of SCUBA equipment.

Course Hours: 12.

Course Description: The Navigation course teaches students how to navigate underwater using various methods. Students learn how to use an underwater compass as well as how to determine distances underwater and navigate by natural features and dead reckoning.

Night

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 12.

Course Description: The Night course teaches students the proper procedures and skills for diving at night. Items such as communication, lost buddy/group, nocturnal marine life, planning, organization, and procedures on how to deal with disorientation, among others will be covered.

Course Hours: 8.

Course Description: The Buoyancy course helps students to refine their buoyancy control. This is achieved by teaching students new/different weighting techniques, breathing techniques, how to maintain trim in the water, kick styles, and streamlining equipment.

Science of Diving

Course Prerequisite: ISO/WRSTC Open Water Diver.

Course Hours: 8.

Course Description: The Science of Diving course covers, in-depth, the physics and physiology of diving.

Divemaster (DM) [ISO/WRSTC Dive Leader]

Course Prerequisite:

18 years of age or older;

ISO/WRSTC Rescue, Night/Low Visibility, Deep, and Navigation certifications equivalent;

completed CPR, First Aid, Oxygen Administration within the previous 24 months of completion of the course;

and be medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within the previous 12 months.

Course Hours: 88.

Course Description: The Divemaster course introduces the student to leadership level diving.

This course will train the student to be a dive leader, with several areas of focus: dive theory, waterman ship skills, problem solving abilities, role model behavior, professionalism, student diver management and certified diver management.

During the class sessions students learn the theory aspects of diving which involve the opportunity for discussion on problem solving.

The pool sessions teach students demonstration quality skills as well as problem solving abilities and stamina in various water activities.

The practical application phase teaches the student how to deal with student divers as well as certified divers in a leadership role, done under the direct supervision of the instructor teaching the course. It is also a prerequisite for the Instructor Training Courses.
