Instructor Program

This program is 124 hours in length.  This program takes the student from the Divemaster level to the Open Water Instructor (OWI) level.  The Instructor program trains the student how to teach diving to students of all levels and how to deal with the various problems that can happen while training scuba divers.  It also prepares the student to teach SCUBA to uncertified divers.

It also prepares the student to teach SCUBA to uncertified divers. Upon completion of the program the student will be qualified (in addition to vocations able to be obtained with completion of the Rescue Diver and Divemaster Programs) to teach the following programs including but not limited to: Open Water, Advanced Adventurer, Stress & Rescue, Enriched Air Nitrox, Divers Alert Network (DAN) Dive Emergency Management Provider (DEMP), React Right and Divemaster Programs.

  • DAN Dive Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) Instructor Course

ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR (AI) [ISO/WRSTC Inst. Lvl 1]

Course Prerequisites:

18 years of age or older;

ISO/WRSTC Dive Leader (Divemaster);

CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration training completed within the previous 24 months of completion of the course;

and be medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within the previous 12 months.

Course Hours: 50.

Course Description: The Assistant Instructor course trains the student on how to teach scuba diving.

The classroom sessions develop the student’s ability to set up teaching presentations, confined water presentations and open water presentations.

The pool sessions fine tune the student’s ability to teach skills and demonstrate skills to divers in training.

The open water sessions show students how to evaluate divers’ skills in a real-world diving environment.

OPEN WATER INSTRUCTOR (OWI) [ISO/WRSTC Inst. Lvl 2]

Course Prerequisite:

18 years of age or older;

ISO/WRSTC Instructor Level 1 (Assistant Instructor), ISO/WRSTC equivalent certification for Enriched Air Nitrox 40%;

CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration training completed within the previous 24 months of completion of the course;

and be medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within the previous 12 months.

Course Hours: 50.

Course Description: The Open Water Instructor course builds on the training the student learned during the Assistant Instructor course.

The classroom sessions refine student’s ability to set up teaching presentations, confined water presentations, open water presentations, standards and procedures for conducting scuba diving courses, and marketing of scuba to the general public.

The pool sessions fine tune the student’s ability to teach and demonstrate skills to training divers.

The open water sessions show students how to evaluate divers’ skills in a real-world diving environment.

React Right Instructor

Course Prerequisite:

React Right (CPR, First Aid, AED) provider or equivalent from another recognized training organization.

Course Hours: 12.

Course Description: The React Right Instructor Course teaches the student how to teach the React Right program to divers or laypersons and how to administer CPR, First Aid, and AED in the event of an emergency.

The course shows the students how to setup, conduct, and market the program.

DAN DEMP Instructor

Course Prerequisite: DAN DEMP Provider.

Course Hours: 12.

Course Description: The DAN Diver Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) Instructor Course instructs the student in how to teach the DEMP Provider programs to divers and how to administer oxygen to an injured diver, how to do a neurological assessment and how to treat hazardous marine life injuries.

The course shows the students how to setup and conduct the program as well as how to market the program.
