If class does not meet the minimum amount of students required UWC will refund you.

This is a Blended Learning Class (online, in class, and in pool). The content and activities will provide entry level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.

After successful completion of this course, participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

The certification will be valid for 2 years.

Pre-requisites: 

- You must be at least 15 years old.

- You must have the ability to swim 300 yards, including freestyle and breaststroke, and tread water for up to 2 minutes.

- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs

- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10lb object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using a ladder or steps. 

Lifeguard recertification course

April 14th - 8am till 7pm

This 8 hour review is designed to re-certify participants who possess an American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certification. The certification will be valid for 2 years.

The certification will be valid for 2 years.

Pre-requisites: 

- You must be at least 15 years old.

- You must possess a current Lifeguard Certification.



Water Safety instructor - wsi training

May 4th: 8AM-1PM Pool Work, 1PM-8PM Classroom / Pool Work

$300 (course fee) & $38 (ARC Registration Fee pre-paid at UWC)*

There is a minimum 4 students required by the Red Cross standards, 6 students is ideal.
If class does not meet the minimum amount of students required, UWC will reschedule or refund you.

This is a class designed to train Instructor Candidates to teach water safety including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses.

You'll learn:

- How to proficiently instruct six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics Prerequisites.

- Training (FIT) course-identify key elements and strategies for planning and preparing effective and safe swim lessons.

- Observe swimming, headfirst entry and diving skills and accurately classify them and suggest appropriate interventions to improve them.

Pre-requisites: 

- You must be at least 16 years old on or before the last day of the instructor course.
