snorkeling with humpback whales!

January 25 - February 1st 2020

Located about 90 km north of the Dominican Republic, the Silver Bank is one of the few breeding and calving zones of the North Atlantic Humpback Whale. Declared a whale sanctuary in 1986, the Silver Bank and surrounds yearly play host to 5 to 7 thousand migrating North Atlantic Humpback Whales. Aboard the M/V Turks & Caicos Explorer II you will have a week of unforgettable encounters with these majestic creatures, followed by brief evening informational videos or naturalist narrated slide shows to help you understand the various behaviors witnessed during the day.

Following the Sanctuary rules, this tour will allow you to join the Whales in “Soft-in-water Encounters”, a passive, non-aggressive floating at the surface, wearing snorkeling equipment way, that allows the whale to develop an interest in humans. We are not allowed to scuba dive with the whales and calves.
