Sidemount diving is no longer only for technical divers!  

The ease of movement without a heavy tank on your back and a new feeling of buoyancy and freedom are enticing advantages of the diving style that can benefit all divers alike!

Diving with 2 tanks also increases the amount of air at your disposal, making it easy to make the best of your bottom time without worrying about running out of gas!

What you will learn:

  • Properly assemble and configure sidemount scuba diving equipment.

  • Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you're perfectly balanced in the water.

  • Manage gas by switching second stages as planned, if wearing two cylinders.

  • Respond correctly to potential problems while sidemount diving.

Prerequisites:

  • You must be certified Open Water Diver, or higher.

  • Successfully completed the XR Foundations course*.

  • Minimum age: 18 years old.

  • Minimum of 24 logged dives.

*To enroll the sidemount course you need a minimum of a recreational pass on the XR Foundations. If you wish to move on with your XR training in a sidemount configuration, a tech pass is required.

Number of dives: 3.

Important note:

One of the documents required for this course is the Medical Statement. Depending on your answers to the questionnaire a physician’s or other legally certified medical provider’s signature on the Medical Statement might be required prior to you getting in the water. It is important to read the form ahead of time so you have plenty of time to set an appointment if necessary. Click HERE to download the form.

Don’t worry if you still are unsure whether a signature is required on your form or not, once you sign the course’s DocuSign Packet, we will contact you about it, if needed. Please remember that the Medical Statement’s 3rd page must be signed by a DO, MD, NP, or PA-C. A Doctor’s Note is NOT acceptable.
