they can enjoy for their whole life!


The Underwater Connection Swim Team is designed to be a "pre-team" program with the goal to increase fitness and endurance levels while introducing the sport of competitive swimming; the UWC Swim Team Prep Class provides an opportunity to learn training and racing techniques in preparation for joining a competitive swim team or as a continuation of stroke school. 

It's not unusual that kids that are just starting in swim teams get lost with all the new language, systems on racing, heats and that no one takes the time to explain to new kids on the teams. Learning on the fly can be frustrating and intimidating.

Our goal is that they are comfortable, familiar, and above all excited when joining the world of a swim team.




Ages 6-18. Groups will be divided according to age and level.

All students need a Swim Team Evaluation before joining the program.

The Evaluation is just an opportunity for the instructor to explain the program and make sure you have no further questions, as well as help you answer the following questions:

Is your child at ease and able to swim in deep water for extended periods of time?

Can swim 18 meters good form freestyle with correct breathing and timing?

Can swim 18 meters backstroke with straight arm recovery and breathe continually during the stroke?

Can float or tread water for 2 minutes?

If your child can do all of these things, you guys are ready!


Practices are every Monday from 5pm to 6pm

  • September 9, 16, 23, 30 (OFF on Labor Day)

  • October 7, 14, 21, 28

  • November 4, 11, 18, 25

  • December 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Mock Swim Meets (“racing days”) are every 6 weeks.

Swim meets are where the students learn about heat and lane assignments, whistles blasts, heat sheets, and the timing system. Swim meets will be a learning opportunity so that swimmers become comfortable with the meet setting before moving on to a more competitive team. Meet participation will be optional for all students.

What to bring to practice

  • A water bottle containing WATER not juice, soda, or drink mixes. Only exception might be a sport drink if you feel it is necessary

  • Swim goggles plus an extra pair in their swim bag

  • A swim bag to hold their stuff

  • A towel

  • An extra swim suit, clothing malfunctions happen

  • Swim cap and an extra one

  • A good attitude and willingness to learn and understand corrections
