Equipment Maintenance.

Underwater Connection has a maintenance & repair department with certified repair technicians for the major SCUBA brands.

We can inspect & overhaul SCUBA equipment, cylinder visual inspections & hydrostatic testing, air and enriched air nitrox fills, and perform other minor repairs.

We can also go a step further and if we cannot perform a service in house, we most likely can still take care of sending it to the manufacturer’s recommended service center, and make the whole process as smooth as possible for you!

Use the buttons below to check which brands we can service, more information on the Equipment Techniques class, and the next scheduled Free Basic Equipment Maintenance Clinic (offered usually once every quarter).

FAQs - Equipment service

Most questions have already been asked! Please, find the most common ones down below (click the question and the answer will show) and do not hesitate to contact us if you still have any questions or concerns.

Does my SCUBA equipment need service even I haven’t dived it since its last service?

If it has been 2 years from the last service, regardless of how many dives were done with the equipment, yes. Most manufacturers require maintenance to be performed every 2 years or 200 dives - whichever comes first, with recommended inspections in between.

What happens if I skip service this year?

If your equipment is eligible for any parts for life programs, skipping service means forfeiting that program. Regardless of what you decide, make sure to have it serviced before diving next. Your regulator is life support equipment and should be checked if the 2 years/200 dives have elapsed.

What’s the difference between Overhaul and Inspection, and which one do I need?

Inspections are there to make sure your equipment has maintained the manufacturer’s specifications since last serviced, that your hoses and mouthpieces are still in good shape, and make minor adjustments to ensure the absolute best performance on your next year of diving.

Overhauls are more in depth and our techs will replace the inner parts of your regulator (such as filters, seats, o-rings, etc.), deep clean pieces in an ultrasounic cleaner when needed, and more.

Overhauls are required every 2 years or 200 dives, whichever one comes first. Inspections happen 12 months after your overhaul. So you will most likely bring in your equipment once a year to get serviced. We take care of keeping track of which service is required.

I bought used equipment. Can I “buy in” a parts for life program?

No. You must be the original owner.

I bought my equipment somewhere else. Can you set it up for me?

Yes. Every new equipment set up is also bench tested by our repair technicians to make sure it's within manufacturer's specifications and at its best performance. This service is free for any equipment purchased with us.

What's your turn around time?

It depends on the service and equipment being serviced, but most of the time it will take approx. 3 weeks to have your service completed. If you are leaving for a dive vacation we recommend allowing as much time as possible so you have your equipment serviced on time.

I accidently dunked my regulator in the rinse tank without the dust cap. Do I need to bring it in for service?

It depends on the model of your regulator. Some regulators have Auto-Closure devices, others are designed to survive that common mistake. It’s best to give us a call and talk with our repair techs to know for sure what to do.

Does my BCD need to be serviced too?

Unless your BCD has an integrated alternate air source, service is not mandatory. It is, however, highly recommended to have it inspected every so often.

Do you change batteries in Dive Computers?

Yes! Older models might have to be sent back to the manufacturer for battery changes (we can assist you with that) but the majority of newer dive computers can be changed and tested right here at UWC. Battery changes are turned around faster than other services, but please still plan to drop your computer off for a day. All computers that have their batteries changed by UWC are pressure tested so you have piece of mind that your computer will not leak on your next dive.

My regulator is no longer supported by the manufacturer. Can you still service it?

No. If the equipment is no longer supported it means we can no longer get repair parts for it. We could do an inspection, but not overhaul it. At this point we suggest you invest in a new regulator instead of servicing the older model.

Do you test / service cylinders?

Yes. We do visual inspections, hydrostatic testing, valve overhauls, and O2 cleaning for Nitrox up to 40%. Please know that the hydrostatic testing is not perfomed in house (we still take care of all the process for you) and it will take a couple of weeks.

Do you fill paint-ball tanks?

Most tanks, yes. We cannot fill CO2 or N2. Please know that tanks may not be filled immediately, so plan to drop off your tank and return for them the next day, if needed.

Do you fill air-rifle tanks?

Most tanks, yes. We cannot fill CO2 or N2. Please know that tanks may not be filled immediately, so plan to drop off your tank and return for them the next day, if needed.

Do you fill avalanche pack tanks?

Most tanks, yes. We cannot fill CO2 or N2. Please know that tanks may not be filled immediately, so plan to drop off your tank and return for them the next day, if needed.

Do you fill Nitrox?

Yes! Up to 40%. We are making arrangements to have higher blends available by December 2020. Please make sure to bring your Nitrox certification card to rent a Nitrox tank or purchase a Nitrox fill.

I don't see the brand of my regulator on your website. Can you still service it for me?

Our brands list on the website is not comprehensive, but it does have most of our major brands. The chances we can service equipment for brands not shown on this page are small, but you can call us to double check. If we indeed do not carry it, we can still perform an inspection on your regulator, but if it does not pass the inspection our repair technicians are not able to overhaul it for you.
